Meet our Partner Francis

Q&A with Cloud of Goods rental partner Francis - Cloud of Goods

Francis Wanja is a proud father and husband; he had humble beginnings on Cloud of Goods Seattle equipment rental platform by renting out mobility scooters and wheelchairs he already had lying around in his garage. We sat down with him to learn about his journey to success in his family business of renting wheelchairs and scooters to Seattle visitors and residents with the support from his wife Sara Mwangi and their 4-year-old son.

Q1: What is a typical day like for you?

A typical day usually involves checking my Cloud of Goods Seattle delivery manifest, a dashboard in the Cloud of Goods partner app and the website where I check to see the state of my mobility gear rentals for the day and check if we have any rental equipment deliveries. In our Seattle scooter rentals and wheelchair rentals business, customer service is key and we try to make convenience the most important aspect of the rental for our customers.
The customer does not have to be there for us to pick them up, especially if they are coming from a cruise to Seattle where disembarking may take hours. We usually advise on a safe place to leave the rental equipment where we normally come to pick it from. For drop-offs, it's usually a customer's choice whether they want us to be there when dropping off so we can go over operational instructions or whether to leave their rental equipment at their hotel bell desk or the Seattle area attraction front desk. Some customers, especially the ones that are renting wheelchairs in Seattle are well versed and there is usually no need for us to be present during deliveries.

Q2: What have been some of your highlights in interactions with Borrowers?

At the heart of what we do is a desire to provide not just great customer service but also to meet customers at the point of their needs, this holds particular value in our Seattle mobility scooter rental and wheelchair rental business. With our Seattle scooter rentals business operations, we had a customer who was traveling from Indiana, rented a scooter from us, and unfortunately, they lost the scooter key. We scurried and got them a replacement key for their scooter rental at no extra charge within an hour of notifying us. This was a very pleasant rental experience for the customer and they were not only super appreciative, they gave us a fabulous Five Star review on Cloud of Goods Seattle Google reviews page.

Q3: When you are not renting wheelchairs with us, how do you spend your time?

When I am not delivering rental equipment to our Seattle travelers and customers, I like spending time with my wife and our 4-year-old. He keeps us busy and loves helping us, especially with equipment cleaning. He is our intern :-)
Seattle has a lot to offer including attractions, nature as well as adventures and we take our downtime to visit the parks as well as hike the numerous trails in Seattle and surrounding area.

Q4: If you could go back in time to when you first started doing scooter rentals in Seattle, what advice would you give to your younger self?

In my experience, renting wheelchairs and scooters in Seattle, I have realized flexibility is key. The most important aspect of any customer interaction is meeting our customers at their point of convenience. If you can know what this point is for any Seattle scooter or wheelchair rental customer, then you will have a positive experience with them.

Q5: How is your journey with Cloud of Goods?

I had some quality mobility and medical equipment in my garage and was thinking that I did not want to sell them yet in case I had a family member who would need them in the future. So, I started researching how I could rent my equipment, searching on Google, phrases like renting wheelchairs in Seattle. I did a simple search and saw the Cloud of Goods Seattle Wheelchair Rentals page. I perused their website and saw the opportunities in wheelchair and mobility scooter rentals, I was hooked.
I saw the great relationship that the company has with customers through the Google reviews and I knew this was what I wanted to do. I reached out to the company via the web form and got a response the very next day. They were looking for partners in the Seattle area! I was setup as a Seattle area rental shop within a week and started receiving scooter rental and wheelchair rental orders pretty much the next day after onboarding. This opportunity to rent mobility and medical equipment to Seattle visitors and locals has been one of the best things to happen to me and my family!

Q6: How did you expand your rental business in Seattle so fast and what’s next?

We have a can-do attitude.  We meet customers at their point of convenience. When we receive the instant notification through Cloud of Goods mobile app with a new rental order, we immediately accept the order and go above and beyond to provide the best Seattle rental experience to the customer. We love what we do and always portray our happy energy to our wheelchair and scooter rental customers and they reward us with great reviews, spreading the word to their friends and family as well as tipping us through the Cloud of Goods app. We hope to expand our Seattle rental operation even further by introducing more products and expanding our delivery radius even beyond the Seattle Metro area.
