The Ballona Creek Bike Path is a 6.7 miles stretch of Class 1 bicycle path and a pedestrian walkway on federally owned land of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that is managed by the County of Los Angeles County and parallels Ballona Creek for most of its entire length. Syd Kronenthal Park on McManus Street, at the back of the sports fields, by a row of Blue Gum Eucalyptus trees is the starting point of the bicycle path, near where Jefferson Boulevard veers south to spawn National Boulevard in Culver City. The bicycle path passes southerly through suburb community of Del Rey and ends at Marina del Rey, by joining with the Marvin Braude Bicycle Trail near the The Strand in Playa del Rey. The path passes by the Baldwin Hills Mountains and the Ballona Wetlands, and on clear days a view of the Santa Monica Mountains is visible. Especially near the wetlands, riders can view many varieties of wild birds and other wildlife, wildflowers and trees all along the path. The path is flat for its entire length, except at the 5 underpasses of roads and two freeways.
