Attractions for all to enjoy

Enjoy a little rest, relaxation and recreation with your kids in SF. Here are but a handful of suggestions for the entire family to delve into

Children’s Creativity Museum (formerly Zeum) is located in Yerba Buena Gardens as a renowned innovative art and technology experience for children ages 2-12. Here, kids can be enthralled by a variety of developmentally appropriate workshops, design their own video game, stop-motion animation, robot coding, music video production, learn basic musical theatre skills in acting, and other hands-on activities. It’s also the (hopefully) forever home of the LeRoy King Carousel after its well-traveled journey from Rhode Island, Seattle, SF, New Mexico, Long Beach, and back to SF.

Muir Woods National Monument is free for children age 15 and under. Here, both kids and adult companions can bask in the majesty of the tallest trees in the world. It’s a great place for a leisurely stroll or a hike. Stay on its many trails or veer off on a beaten path. Educational opportunities are abound to learn of nature’s wonders among the glorious Coastal Redwood trees. Visit these majestic woods and help celebrate 100 years of National Park Service while you’re there!

Pier 39 at Fisherman’s Wharf offers an eclectic blend of activities for the entire family. Not only is it home to the Aquarium of the Bay, there is a carousel for kids to ride and Magowan’s Infinite Mirror Maze to traverse through. One of the newer attractions is the 7-D Experience that includes the Dark Ride and LaZer Challenge. Both are interactive games that put 3D glasses on riders who coast down an exhilarating ride of movable roller coaster seats. The goal: shoot at computer-generated targets on screen. Golden Gate Park is where the first Children’s Playground in a public park in America was established along with countless other attractions. Sitting on an expansive 1,017 acres that include the richness of an outdoor oasis (meadows, rose gardens, lakes, an arboretum, the tallest artificial waterfall in the West, etc.), this destination is a full-day excursion to entertain the entire family. Take in the arts at the de Young Museum. Relish in the fragrance at the Conservatory of Flowers where a restored carousel lies in wait. Many museums and academies offer free-of-charge days, so check out their website. This would be a great destination for a bike, stroll, or jog around the park (and Cloud of Goods has those supplies available for rent!).

California Academy of Sciences is located within Golden Gate Park and is the only place that features an aquarium, planetarium, and natural history museum all under one roof. Among their wondrous attractions is Osher Rainforest, a 4-story biodiverse exhibit behind a 90-foot glass dome showcasing creatures as small as ants, to birds flying overhead and large Amazonian fish swimming by. From lectures and workshops to penguins and pajama sleepovers, this place is where much adventure can be had.

Randall Museum is a free, kid-friendly museum that “strives to inspire creativity, curiosity, and appreciation of the world around us.” It hosts many live animal exhibits along with other hands-on activities for kids of many ages. Riding the Rails, the Tree House Toddler Exploration Zone and the Creativity & Discovery Hand in Hand area are but a few that children can enjoy. Note: they are temporarily open at Treat Avenue in the Mission until their full facility reopens in 2017.

Our airline broke our stroller on our flight to San Francisco, but Cloud of Goods saved the day with a great jogging stroller rental! We thought we would have to buy another 1,000$ stroller, but the rental came through at a fraction of the cost. Hassle free drop-off and pickup were arranged around our schedule, how do I put 5 stars?

-Nathan A Vanderkooy

Just had the most serendipitous encounter with Cloud of Goods in SF. Carrying my 30 lb toddler all around Fishermans Wharf & was jusssst about to go into Walgreens to find a cheap stroller when I ran into them and their fresh new Graco they had FOR RENT! Snagged it on the spot and now Harry's rolling in style. They are even going to pick it up at my hotel when we're done. Best $40 spent ever.
