Faith & Occupation: The Young Lord's First People's Church Offensive
Come join us for an exciting event at the First Spanish United Methodist Church where veterans of the radical Puerto Rican group, the Young Lords, will discuss their occupation of that very church in 1969! Panelists include Gilbert Sabu Colon, Minerva Solla, Denise Oliver-Velez, and Mickey Melendez, Young Lords cadre who lived through the occupation of this very building at 111th Street and Lexington Avenue.
The event will begin with an optional Sunday Worship Service in the Christian Liberationist Tradition. If you don't wish to participate in the service, feel free to join us for the panel at 1:30pm.
